As a blank canvas, the 911 offers much more than color choices. It offers drivetrain and bodystyle choices, interior options varying in colors, material and styles. Wheel choices that dramatically change its character. Touring, lightweight, luxury, sport and race bits and pieces exist. Talk about accessorizing!
Perfect Power's 911 Street Rod starts as that blank canvas. We are the artist. You are the client. Depending on your budget and your desires, we will build your 911 as an early 911, like an early 70's narrow bodied car or '73 Carrera RS 'resto-mod-look', or a wide-bodied 911RSR, 964RSR or 993 RSR. Our current project pretends to be nothing but a 964, a great 911 in its own right. The Carrera 2 RS with a few 'period correct' mods of its own is a pretty slick version of the old shape. We'll work off of an outline that offers up to five stages or levels of choices for each part of the car: engine, transaxle, body, suspension, brakes, wheels and tires.
We will start with any 911. We prefer, and recommend, a rust-free, 964 C2 coupe, with a five-speed.
We like the 964 for several excellent reasons: It's 3.6 liter engine is the air-cooled engine of choice. We also like the tunnel-shifted G50 gearbox.. The ABS brakes and optional airbags are the frosting on the cake! We'll build Speedsters, Targas or Cabs, but far prefer the structural integrity of the coupe chassis for both safety and the torsional rigidity of the platform.
