Interior

These are the most basic of Porsche light weight door panels.  Not shown is the similar, new-version, RS America panel but below is my lightweight door panel on my black 911.  This one is leather, has some thin foam and some Porsche-like diagonal stitching to get rid of the baggy, bland, slab-of-vinyl look.  Both panels use the RSR-style, Fiat, that's right, Fiat, door pull handle.  Don't pull too hard.  They will break.

I like leather and Alcantara.  I love this Ruf interior.  That suede on the dash is fantastic!  You need some texture and some contrasting looking finishes.  I still love the old 70's waffle pattern on the mid-dash.  Click to zoom in.  We did the aluminum trim in black on this 911T, below.
It's decision time again now.  Do you need power windows?  Do you want to save five pounds and use a manual crank?  Lose another five pounds dumping the regulator all together and put in a pull strap to raise the window.  Get rid of glass and go to thin Lexan.  Lots of options.  How light do you want to go?  Are you thinking motorcycle?
We did a cabriolet last year with stupid horsepower and I wanted the guy to close off the tops of his doors and eliminate the windows altogether.  I wanted the convertible top, and its mechanism removed and have the back hard-tonneaued.  Of course the piece de resistance would have been a low Speedster windshield.    He said, "What if it rains?"  I said to use it as if it were a motorcycle.  Check the weather.
The door panel on the 964 that we're doing, will be a little different.  GT-Racing sells an aluminum inside pull that I like.  We have a few little detail things planned regarding stitching and door panel design.  But I think you'll see some aluminum here and there.
